Provide research, evaluation, and technical assistance supports (e.g., professional learning, consultation) to federal clients and local stakeholders through projects aimed at improving outcomes for students with disabilities. Coordinates annual conferences run through Department (e.g., Legal issues in Special Education. Supports, as the liaison between students, faculty, and professional organizations, and the Department. Consults graduate students with application and submission of TaskStream assignments and responsibilities. Supports the Department in preparation for ongoing CAEP (formerly NCATE) efforts (data collection and analysis via electronic portfolios). Supports faculty research, coursework and professional development as appropriate. Maintains Blackboard communication for VC 161 Comprehensive exam, with non-matriculated and matriculated students with VC 151 Grad Studies. Supports Department communication and collaboration with the College of Graduate Studies (e.g., program requirements, processing applications to the program, application to take comprehensive examination, application to graduate). Communicates information regarding graduate programs, licensure and M.Ed.
Works with Department Chair and Graduate Chair to advance graduate programs. Assist school Principal with a wide variety of daily responsibilities. Answers the main phone line and greets school stakeholders at the office. Working with the state testing and special education teams to assist with ensuring student accommodations are correct and consistently updated. Collecting special education records from prior schools- working with grade level admin assistants to ensure correct upload of sped records (IEPs, 504 plans, LEP plans, Gifted Educational Plans, School evaluations). Perform other duties, as assigned by the Student Support Strategists and/or The Emotional and Behavioral Services Coordinator. Attend meetings and professional development sessions for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to the job functions. Use specialized de-escalation strategies with a student in crisis. Use specialized data tracking techniques to collect student behavior data.
Participate in the implementation of the student Behavior Plan. Attend parent meetings to provide insight into the student’s behavioral progress. Continually supervise, monitor and redirect the student in order to ensure a safe, non-threatening, nurturing environment where the student can thrive.
